Can I learn French if I’m a beginner?

Learning new language from scratch can be stressful, so check our tips to help you get started on that journey.
1. Master French pronunciation
Start with the basics: French sounds and their pronunciation. Pay attention to vowel sounds, nasal sounds, and consonant combinations. Practice speaking and listening to native speakers to get a feel for the language’s rhythm and intonation.
2. Build French vocabulary
Begin with most common French words and phrases. And be patient – building French vocabulary takes time and consistency. Dedicate some time each day or week to practice your French skills. Even short, these practices will help you significantly progress over time.
Keep a journal of new words and phrases. Write down their meanings and try to use them in your own sentences.
3. Practice reading in French
Look for short articles or blog posts written for beginners. These texts use basic vocabulary and can help you gradually improve your reading skills. Practice reading aloud to improve your pronunciation and fluency. This will also help create the connection between written and spoken French.
4. Learn with a native French teacher
Even though there are some very good tutors who learned French as a second language and dedicated themselves to study it deeply, you have to be aware you won’t get all the subtilties of the language. It’s important that hey have lived in France or French speaking country, as there’s so many things they can teach you, besides French conversation and grammar. 5. Embrace French culture
French culture is one of the main reasons people want to learn French language. Immerse yourself in French culture by exploring French music, movies, and literature. This will make your learning way more enjoyable.
6. Never stop speaking French!
Use every opportunity to practice and never stop doing it. It doesn’t mean you will always be comfortable with it but it will lead you to improvement and that’s what you need in order to be able to speak French if you never did.

8.Listen to podcasts in French
Podcasts can be a valuable but also fun way to improve your French. At one point your level will be high enough and you will be able to understand different accents and humor. Also, listening to native speakers in conversation will help you pick up natural intonation and pronunciation, but also develop vocabulary.
9. Watch French TV
You don’t have to travel to France – try watching TV shows in French and you’ll see how much you can discover about culture, society and language itself!
10. Surround yourself with French
Sounds obvious, but still many of us don’t do it when learning a new language. Change the default language of your devices, download movies, series and enjoy! It’s passive way of learning, but it can help you integrate all the parts and become a French speaker.
