How to prepare for the DELF B1
As with any exam, sample papers and targeted exercises help you reach your goal step by step. At Live French we use a proven method that gets our students excellent results. Allow about 2 months if you only prepare one part, or around 6 months if you want to prepare and pass the full DELF B1.
Tips to pass the DELF B1
At B1 level, structure makes the difference.
How to build your essay or oral answer:
- an introduction that presents the topic and the question, and shows your approach
- well-developed points that you back up with examples
- a conclusion that sums up what you said and opens onto a wider theme
When building your sentences, pay attention to:
- correct spelling
- linking words (connectors)
- the right tenses
Mistakes are completely fine. No one expects you to be 100% correct. Just make sure you avoid the most common errors: plural -s, conjugations, masculine/feminine and numbers.
Tip: practise under real exam conditions with a timer. You will get used to the pace and avoid stress on the day.
